No último dia 18 de maio, a Marinha de Israel atacou ilegalmente, em águas internacionais, navios em missão humanitária que tentavam romper o bloqueio à Faixa de Gaza para atender a população. As ações resultaram na apreensão dos barcos da Flotilha Global Sumud e no sequestro de ativistas de diversos países, incluindo o Brasil.
O médico pediatra Cássio Pelegrini, que atua no atendimento a imigrantes em São Paulo, era um dos integrantes da Flotilha e é o entrevistado do Pauta Pública desta semana. Na conversa com Andrea Dip, ele faz um relato detalhado do horror vivido nas mãos dos militares israelenses: espancamentos, choques, privação de água, exposição ao frio e ao calor, violência sexual e violência psicológica extrema. Relatos de tortura, que contaram com o aval do próprio ministro de Segurança Nacional do país, Itamar Ben-Gvir, que chegou a divulgar em suas redes sociais vídeos de ativistas amarrados e ajoelhados, com a legenda “bem-vindos a Israel”.
Apesar da violência extrema, Pelegrini considera que os ativistas seguem firmes no apoio ao povo palestino: “eles fraturaram muitos corpos e foram violentos com a gente psicologicamente, mas em nenhum momento tivemos dúvida de que era o correto estar ali. Então, moralmente, a gente saiu intacto”, afirma.
