I was forced to use an old 5 year old laptop for the last two weeks and it opened my eyes to the bill of goods that we've been sold. I didn't notice any significant performance difference with the majority of things that I do with my daily driver. And yet the old computer specs would leave you to believe it would drag slowly. If you ever mix Linux with Windows, whether it be on separate drives or one dual boot drive, or just suffer from some corruption of Linux, I have a new way of installation that will save you. This foolproof method will ensure that nothing will break your install. Even if Windows overwrites the bootloader, you can be up and running again in 15 minutes. The trick is something that's not taught frequently enough. It's a Linux Multi-Partition Install.
