Chatting The Pictures: Costumed ICE Protesters Ask: Who Are the Aliens?

A day after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, anti‑ICE demonstrators gathered at One World Trade Center in New York, where former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was speaking. Outside, protesters held the sidewalk for hours, demanding that ICE be removed from the city. In this photograph, a figure in a bright green alien costume confronts a Secret Service officer, turning the language of immigration enforcement into a surreal, satirical clash over who is deemed foreign—and who truly belongs.

We examine the layered symbolism of the costume, from "resident alien" reclaiming language against Trump's parsing to the three eyes as visual commentary on paranoia and control.
