All large woodworking machines are used machines.
Many of them were manufactured more than 40 years ago, and it has become difficult to obtain those in good condition.
Canon will release a “Sony FX30” killer on September 9th. In a darkened teaser, Canon show the outline of the camera but brightening the image reveals some important details. The big red record button, and the Cinema EOS badge, a mirrorless camera style grip and twin control dials, as well as what looks like the very subtle outline of an EVF eye cup on the rear of the camera.
The model name of the camera hasn’t yet been announced, but given the EOS R50V as a recently announced entry level APS-C model we can expect this one to be called the Canon EOS R5V.
Rather than just a mere Sony FX30 competitor, the R5V could end-up being a high-end rival to the Sony FX3. Some rumours suggest the use of the full frame EOS R5 II sensor with 8K 60p and 4K 120p.
Canon is yet to enter the open gate anamorphic party but the rumours suggest the R5V could mark the debut of that feature too.
The Nikon Challenger
There’s also a suggestion on the EOSHD Forum that Nikon is preparing the announcement of a similar kind of camera with RED cinema camera technology – dubbed the Nikon Zr.
Stand-out features could be a new type of electronic ND technology on the Canon and Nikon bodies, as well as the long touted introduction of REDcode RAW on the Nikon Z-mount hybrid.
Nikon now holds a considerable patent advantage over Canon and Sony in cinema cameras.
Back in the RED DSMC days, the company held the patent for the Motion Mount which was an electronically variable ND filter which doubled as a global shutter. The modular swappable mount of the RED cameras allowed this Canon EF or PL mount to slot in an introduce the functionality. That’s an interesting patent Nikon now has in the arsenal for the rumoured Nikon Zr hybrid camera ecosystem.
Perhaps we can expect to see a Zr9, Zr8 and cheaper entry level Z50r cameras.

O item, arrematado por 432.500 dólares, era a impressão de uma gravura gerada por um um programa de inteligência artificial que “estudou” pinturas históricas.
As artes plásticas não são o único campo invadido pela IA. Nichos literários como o dos romances eróticos têm abundância de títulos escritos com ajuda de robôs. Isso sem falar em áreas não artísticas da escrita, como e-mails, relatórios, petições e memorandos, estas tomadas por aplicações de inteligência artificial.
Ao mesmo tempo, atividades como as artes plásticas e a literatura são profundamente subjetivas. O que faz com que robôs tenham dificuldade para criar coisas genuínas e inovadoras. Diante disso, abre-se uma encruzilhada. Será que o universo das artes vai se tornar um feudo onde só humanos entram? Ou será que a inteligência artificial reinar aí também?

O 19º Anuário Brasileiro de Segurança Pública trouxe dados impressionantes sobre o avanço do crime organizado na Região Norte do Brasil. Segundo o levantamento, houve ali um crescimento de 92% nas apreensões de cocaína nos últimos 11 anos, bem acima da média no resto do Brasil que viu uma alta de 72% no mesmo período. Em 2024 foram apreendidos 15,2 toneladas de maconha contra 229 kg apreendidos em 2013, um aumento de 6.530%. Este aumento do tráfico se relaciona com o aumento da violência e de outros crimes como garimpo ilegal e lavagem de dinheiro.
Mas o que explica esse cenário? Quais são as facções que se instalaram no interior da Amazônia Legal e como as comunidades ribeirinhas, quilombolas e indígenas estão sofrendo o impacto desta explosão de violência? Para conversar sobre essa situação cada vez mais dramática e com muitos contornos o Pauta recebe o professor quilombola Aiala Colares, da Universidade Estadual do Pará. PhD em Geografia e Especialista em Direito Penal, ele fala com a gente sobre como a região Norte tem se transformado numa das principais rotas de tráfico de drogas no continente e o que poderia ser feito para frear todo esse processo.
