More Perfect Union is an Emmy-winning, nonprofit newsroom whose mission is to build power for working people. Here’s what that means: We report on the real struggles and challenges of the working class from a working-class perspective. We attempt to connect those problems to potential solutions. We report on the abuses and wrongdoing of corporate power. And we seek to hold accountable the ultra-rich who have too much power over America’s political and economic systems.

I’m Dan Piraro, the creator of the Bizarro newspaper comic, and this is my weekly blog post. The large Sunday comic above is mine, as are all of the comments below.
Since January 2018, the Monday-Saturday Bizarro comics have been written and drawn by my comics partner, Wayno. They follow this commentary. For more fun, check out Wayno’s weekly blog post.
I normally spend a half hour Sisyphusizing every morning before I get to work, but today I got up a little late, so I went straight to the task of pushing this blog boulder up the weekly hill.
Longtime Jazz Pickle, Kevin M, donated the title phrase of today’s comic as an idea for a new exercise craze, and I made the above comic from it. Thanks, JP First Class Kevin M! I’m promoting you to colonel.
On Friday, I posted an article on my Naked Cartoonistcreative writing thing that is one of my favorites. It’s a bit of Buddhist kung fu titled “Are God and Bigfoot the Same Person?”
Whatever you’re thinking it’s about, it’s probably not about that. (But maybe it is. A little. It depends on what you’re thinking it’s about.)
Nonetheless, I had a llama-load of fun writing it, and I want to share the audio version of it with you today. I record each of my articles for the hard-of-reading, and this recording turned out very fun, I think. Have a listen and let me know what you think.
You can get my articles —one every two weeks, plus access to the entire archive—for $5 a month. It’s a great way to help support what Wayno and I do here each week, since the industry that used to support us is quickly going the way of the stegasaurus.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We like to advertise our Bizarro products sold through the ComicsKingdom website, and we appreciate your support. But I want to make readers outside the US aware that international shipping has gone crazy! Read the shipping charges info carefully before you hit the final button.
All right already. It’s time to make little crescent moon shapes with our mouths as we become enchuckled by Wayno’s Bizarro comics from the week. Let the mooning begin!
That cracker Graham Bell was on his leave-a-message list.
We hope that no normal people are offended by this cartoon. That is never our intent.
We also hope that no peg-legged sea captains are offended by this cartoon. (If you have a prosthetic leg but are not a sea captain, this cartoon is not about you.)
We’ve all been there, dude. Some of us more than once.
This may be the only jury that would be sympathetic to a defendant who’s torn down part of a national monument like, say, the White House or something, and then began building a grotesque monument to himself in the form of a Golden Barbie Ballroom. Not that that would ever happen.
Coming soon to your neighborhood. Probably to kill you.
Well, JPs, I’ve pushed this week’s boulder as far up the hill as I can manage, so I’m going to let it rolll back down till next week. If you’d like to feel the joy of supporting our art and thoughts, the list below includes several ways. Thanks for being here.
André Mendonça, ministro do STF e do TSE (Foto: Antonio Augusto/TSE).

There's one tool that you'll often hear me wax lyrical about and praise endlessly. The funny thing is, it isn't even a tool you use directly with the clay itself, rather, it's something that allows you to "gather" more information about the pot you're throwing or trimming.
It's a mirror, a simple, standing mirror.
I've used one of these since my training days during my time on the intense DCCoI Ceramics Skills & Design Training Course and since then, it has become one of my favourite tools in my arsenal. It does so much. It increases comfort, accuracy and it allows you to see a perfect sideview of the pot you're throwing or trimming at all times with just a simple, quick glance upwards.
I sometimes find that I’m throwing pots mostly looking through the glass and for things like making sure the profile of my mugs are correct, it’s unbelievably helpful. From above and without a mirror, your view is slightly skewed and you can’t properly observe the side of the vessel you’re making without leaning backwards awkwardly, or even getting off the wheel to check the silhouette. Yet, a mirror negates all of that and those quick, additional moments of observation into the making process itself, creating a more fluid and efficient workflow.
And so, that’s what this weekend’s YouTube video is all about, (a link to which you can find via the Linktree in my profile’s biography). I want to take you through why I use a mirror, how I use a mirror, the advantages, the scant disadvantages and which model I use, although I should specify, this is NOT a sponsored video. The mirror itself, for those wondering, is the Ikea Ikornnes small standing mirror. I like its large frame, ease of adjustability, although it is prone to slipping over from time to time when slamming around larger mounds of clay.

There's a new candidate for a room temperature superconductor, and it isn't some exotic compound, it's graphite, just ground up and baked. A team in Russia says they have found one of the key signatures of superconductivity that survives well above room temperature. The good news is that anyone can try to reproduce this. Let's take a look.

In the first episode of their Close Readings series The Man Behind the Curtain, Tom McCarthy and Thomas Jones examine Cervantes’ masterpiece through the narrative, theoretical, economic and psychological systems that underpin it.
For both Don Quixote and Zidane, the media they consume becomes part of how they experience the world.

George Condo (b. 1957) is an American contemporary visual artist working in the mediums of painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking. Condo mixes input from art history’s masters – such as Velasquez, Manet and Picasso – with elements of American Pop Art. He distorts and renews this material so that it stands out and becomes his own: a kind of strange hybrid that blurs boundaries between the comic and the tragic, the grotesque and the beautiful, the classic and the innovative. As part of the wild art scene in New York in the early 1980s, Condo was close to painters such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring, and worked for Andy Warhol’s Factory, applying diamond dust to silkscreen. Condo’s work is in the permanent collections of MoMA, the Whitney Museum, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Broad Foundation in Los Angeles, Tate Gallery in London, Centre George Pompidou in Paris and Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art in Oslo, among others. He is the recipient of an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters (1999) and the Francis J. Greenberger Award (2005). Condo lives and works in New York City.
George Condo was interviewed by Kasper Bech Dyg at his studio in Soho, New York City in September 2017.

I came across this unusual tool from 1896 and thought it would be an interesting one to recreate. It's a really clever design unlike anything I'd seen before, and it turned into a fun little project.
