No início dos anos 2000, a recém-criada empresa Google adotou um lema informal: “don’t be evil”. Não seja mau, em português. Em 2004, a empresa colocou a frase em documentos relativos à oferta pública de ações na bolsa. O lema “don’t be evil” também passou a abrir o código de conduta da empresa.
E lá ficou até 2018, quando foi remodelado e rebaixado para o pé da página, num movimento que resume a trajetória da empresa. De uma startup de garagem criada por dois estudantes idealistas a um polvo digital que não mede esforços para se tornar maior, mais poderoso e mais influente.
Essa faceta nada boazinha do Google ficou evidente quando a empresa se colocou abertamente contra o projeto de lei 2630, popularmente conhecido como PL das Fake News.
