Em 25 de outubro de 2024, tivemos o prazer de receber o palestrante Bruno Araujo para falar sobre o Cinema Marginal paulistano, especialmente, um de seus expoentes: a Boca do Lixo. A palestra discutiu as ferramentas de estilo e representações nos filmes do período, com destaque para as obras do diretor Jean Garret.
Sobre o palestrante:
Mestre pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Multimeios da UNICAMP, com pesquisa sobre o cinema de gênero praticado na Boca do Lixo paulista entre as décadas de 1970 e 1980 e suas interfaces com a historiografia da cultura brasileira, estudos do excesso e teoria de gênero.
Sobre a palestra:
Dada a popularização dos gêneros do corpo nas décadas de 1960 e 1970 (o melodrama, o horror e a pornografia) o excesso cristalizou-se como elemento central das práticas reiterativas e sensacionalistas das quais esses gêneros cinematográficos lançam mão como forma de engajamento espectatorial. Partindo desse prisma teórico cotejado por algumas questões pertinentes aos estudos de gênero e sexualidade, a palestra propõe especulações acerca de formas outras de engajamento com o cinema de gênero brasileiro praticado na Boca do Lixo naquele período, a fim de que possamos torcer esses filmes por um olhar contemporâneo mais produtivo. Desse modo, buscaremos sublinhar marcas de estilo e representações desviantes a partir de um modo de recepção desidentificado e camp.

For this one, I'm going to try to synthesize a bouncy ball. Basically I'm making something called Thiokol rubber, and hopefully as a ball, it'll be bouncy.
Neste vídeo vamos falar um pouco sobre o mapa do IBGE que gerou polêmica por ter os pólos "invertidos", com o Sul para cima e Norte para baixo. Como se não bastasse, o Brasil está no centro do mapa, e não a Europa como estamos acostumados.
Está certo isso? Está errado? Faz sentido falar em norte "para cima"? Vem conversar sobre isso, e descobrir que essa ideia não é nem um pouco nova, e não tem nada a ver com lacração.

I have this little tube, that been been sitting on my desk for over a month. What's inside is potassium metal, that looks gross and dirty because it's so reactive, and it's soft like weird butter.
I made a stained glass Tiffany lamp shade in my last video, in this video I'll finish it and make a base. It took nearly two months all up and the whole thing was made from scratch. It was one of my favourite projects which I'd like to tackle again sometime.

A while ago I made some perfectly clear ice using a cooler, and I thought it was pretty cool. There were a lot of comments though, that said I could have saved a lot of time and effort, by just boiling the water, so I've decided to test that out.
This is just a bunch of regular nails and I really want to try and liquefy them. Normally this would be pretty difficult, but I bought this little induction heater on eBay, which should be able to do it.

Vem entender porque isso não vai acontecer, e porque mesmo que acontecesse, não seria um grande problema.
O GPS é só um dos sistemas tipo GNSS (Sistema de Navegação Global por Satélite). Ainda temos outros três sistemas com cobertura global (Galileo - Europa, GLONASS - Rússia, Beidou - China), e todos os aparelhos modernos podem trabalhar com esses sistemas ao mesmo tempo, então mesmo que o sinal de GPS fosse desativado ou degradado, tudo continuaria a funcionar sem problemas.

Join colour expert Dr Alexandra Loske, National Gallery Principal Scientist Joseph Padfield and National Gallery host Beks Leary as they cover rainbows from Noah’s Ark to Olafur Eliasson, and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon to Georges Seurat’s ‘The Rainbow’ study.
Alexandra is a colour expert, writer, art historian and museum curator. Her exhibition 'Colour: A Chromatic Promenade through the Royal Pavilion' is on display at The Royal Pavilion in Brighton until October 2025.
Joseph is a Principal Scientist at the National Gallery. He brings a wealth of expertise across multiple domains, including preventive conservation, museum lighting, colour science and the technical examination of paintings.

The National Gallery houses the national collection of paintings in the Western European tradition from the 13th to the 19th centuries. The museum is free of charge and open 361 days per year, daily between 10am - 6pm and on Fridays between 10am - 9pm.
For a while now, I've been wanting to make an explosive liquid metal, and all I need is some sodium and some potassium. And after mixing them together, I eventually had a perfect liquid metal ball. Finally, I pulled some of it out with a syringe, because there's just one thing I have to try.
