Se eu não tivesse carta digital, não saberia que estava passando pelas Ilhas Diomede, escondidas atrás da neblina espessa. De vez em quando, o vento aumenta e me deixa ver os picos da Ilha maior. A maior é Rússia, a menor é Estados Unidos. As centenas de aves não precisam de passaporte pra mudar de país e voam em grupos imensos, criando nuvens triangulares no céu. Puffins (parecem pinguins voadores) fazem giros ao redor da Sardinha 2. Ouço respiros de baleia. A noite é curta e azul. Falo com os responsáveis da Ilha por rádio e viro para o Norte em amanhã.

In one second, the clock jumps forward 21 hours. The sea is the same on both sides of the International Date Line, but we’ve gone from yesterday to tomorrow. My August 6 lasted only three hours. If I didn’t have a digital chart, I wouldn’t know I was passing through the Diomede Islands, hidden behind the thick fog. Every now and then, the wind picks up and lets me see the peaks of the larger island. The larger one belongs to Russia; the smaller one to the United States. The hundreds of birds don’t need a passport to cross the border and fly in huge flocks, creating triangular clouds in the sky. Puffins (they look like flying penguins) circle around the Sardinha 2. I hear whales breathing. The night is short and blue. I’ll radio the island authorities and head north tomorrow.

When you use Windows and you enable features you will see privacy statements like "Our AI doesn't learn from you". Or another one referring to Windows Recall capturing periodic screenshots is "Your data is local". These are FALSE. These are lies. While in legalese, they may actually be correct, the reality hasn't changed. Using embedded AI will destroy your privacy. I will dissect the small print and you will see why.
