Phin Harper explores A BARN THAT MOVES in deepest Devon

En route to Cornwall for a forthcoming episode of Unlocked, Phin swung by The Art Barn, a kinetic structure designed by Thomas Randall-Page of the new architecture practice, THING. The barn is the archive and studio for Thomas' father, the sculptor Peter Randall-Page. Sequestered in the woods near Peter’s home in Devon, the studio chimes with the wide material vocabulary of Peter’s practice and calls upon Peter and Thomas's knowledge of local materials and expertise. In it, sliding doors, a window that pivots and a balcony that folds open “like a gadget from Wallace and Gromit" give this barn its unique character.
