Rescuers continue to search for hundreds of hydropower workers believed trapped inside tunnels flooded during the August 26 glacial collapse disaster near the China-Nepal border. Two workers were rescued on Friday from the Upper Trishuli 3A hydropower project and a Chinese national was found in another tunnel the following day. Rescuers and family members have recounted the harrowing days leading up to their dramatic rescue.

At least 1,380 people have been confirmed dead and more than 5,500 others remain missing. Sniffer dogs may soon be an easy, fast and affordable way to detect cancer, according to an Indian company that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to better interpret natural canine skills. Bengaluru-based start-up Dognosis boasts a 90 per cent accuracy rate for detecting seven major types of cancer, citing a study of 1,500 participants across six hospitals.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has commissioned the country’s second naval destroyer, state media reported on Monday. The vessel equipped with nuclear-capable missiles was launched Sunday, the day before the US, South Korea and Japan started their latest trilateral military exercise, which Pyongyang sees as a security threat. North Korea has continued to dial up pressure on Washington after rebuffing US President Donald Trump’s conciliatory move to scale back US participation in a major military drill with South Korea last month.
